Why use Nyxhora for this workflow
One-click AI removes backgrounds from both images and video frames — no manual tracing, no pen tool
No manual masking needed — the AI detects the subject automatically using neural network inference
Private by design — processing happens entirely in your browser, files never leave your device
What makes AI background removal different from manual tools
Traditional background removal requires manual tracing with pen tools — a skilled editor might spend 5-10 minutes per image. AI uses a pre-trained neural network to identify the subject automatically. Modern models handle hair, fur, transparent objects, and complex edges with reasonable accuracy. What used to take 10 minutes now happens in 5-10 seconds. The tradeoff: manual tracing gives pixel-perfect results. AI gives 90-95% perfect results in 1% of the time. For social media, presentations, and most content creation, AI is good enough. For professional product photography or print work, manual refinement may still be needed. The practical approach: use AI for the initial removal, then do minor touch-ups if necessary.
Browser-based processing: why it matters for your privacy
Most online background removal tools (remove.bg, PhotoRoom, Canva) upload your images to their servers for processing. Your photos and videos sit on someone else's infrastructure. Nyxhora's remover runs entirely in-browser using WebAssembly and WebGPU acceleration. Your files never leave your device. This matters for: confidential business content (product launches, unreleased designs), personal photos you do not want on third-party servers, client work with privacy requirements, and anyone who values data sovereignty. The performance tradeoff: server-side processing is faster for very large images. Browser processing is fast enough for most use cases (under 10 seconds per image) while keeping your data private.
After removal: what to do with your background-free content
Background removal is the start, not the end. Here are practical next steps: (1) COMPOSITE onto branded backgrounds — add your logo, brand colors, or product images behind the subject. (2) CREATE talking-head videos — place yourself in front of a clean, professional background. (3) BUILD thumbnail images — isolate your face or product for YouTube and social thumbnails. (4) MAKE tutorial overlays — place yourself over your screen recording. (5) DESIGN product showcases — remove cluttered backgrounds and add clean, white or branded backgrounds. The editor supports all of these workflows in a single interface — remove background, add new layer, adjust, export.
Batch processing and workflow tips
Currently, Nyxhora processes one clip at a time in the editor. For batch workflows: (1) Import multiple clips to the timeline. (2) Apply AI removal to each clip sequentially. (3) Copy the background removal settings from one clip and paste to others for consistency. (4) Export. For users processing many images (e.g., product photos), consider: processing during a break (the AI runs in a background tab), using consistent lighting/backgrounds across shots for better AI accuracy, and doing a quick review pass after batch processing to catch any edge cases. Batch processing improvements are on the roadmap.
How it works
Open the image or video editor
Import an image or video into the Nyxhora editor and select it on the timeline.
Click AI Background Removal
Navigate to the Magic tab and click AI Background Removal. The model downloads on first use (about 30MB) then is cached in your browser.
Review and export
The background is removed automatically. Place the subject on a new background or export. Check edges and adjust if needed.
Frequently asked questions
What image formats are supported?
PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP for images. MP4, WebM, and MOV for video. The AI processes frames from video files to remove backgrounds per-frame.
Is there a watermark?
Free accounts get a small Nyxhora watermark. Pro accounts remove it entirely. The watermark is unobtrusive — a small badge in the corner.
Can I batch process multiple images?
Currently processing is per-clip in the editor. You can process multiple clips in sequence on the timeline. Batch processing improvements are on the roadmap.
How does this compare to remove.bg?
remove.bg is a dedicated background removal service with server-side processing (faster for large images). Nyxhora runs locally in your browser (better for privacy). Quality is comparable for most use cases.
